Since Tesla and SpaceX CEO 'Iron Man' Elon Musk clinched a deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion, questions have been asked about whether former US President Donald Trump would be allowed back on the platform or not.
Jared Birchall, Musk’s top assistant, who has been described as the “point man” for the Tesla CEO’s $44 billion takeover bid of Twitter, told an associate that the idea of banning a sitting president from Twitter was “insane.” Musk also described Trump’s ban as “morally wrong,” even going so far as to describe the permanent ban as “flat-out stupid.”
Musk has criticized Twitter in the past over such decisions, saying at a recent TED interview that he would be “very reluctant” to take down tweets and very cautious with permanent bans.” He did, however, recognize legal restrictions to his views on Twitter, saying he promotes free speech “within the bounds of the law.”
Musk has also said that free speech, not money, is the motivation behind his takeover of what he has called the “de-facto town square.” Whether or not he will allow the former president back into that arena remains to be seen.
And now, Musk finally decided that he will restore President Donald Trump to Twitter after acquiring the company.

Here’s what Musk emphasized about the idea of permanent bans on Twitter which he totally objected to:
“Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots or spam, scam accounts,” Musk said of the ban.
“I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country.”
“Banning Trump from Twitter didn’t end Trump’s voice. It will amplify it among the right,” Musk continued.
“And this is why it is morally wrong and flat-out stupid.”
Even if Trump were to be allowed back on Twitter, it’s not a sure bet that he’d even want to come back. Trump has emphasized that he plans to stick with his personal social media platform, Truth Social.
