President Donald Trump has a record $1.4 billion in his political war chest, his team confirmedĀ on Monday.
The figure nearly matches the $1.45 billion his campaign and outside groups raised for the 2024 election, according toĀ Open Secrets. The figure appears even more impressive as the campaign committee had a mere $9.8 million in cash on hand following the election.
The $1.4 billion sum would be a staggering amount on its own heading into the midterms and could signal that Trump has the strength to wage both aggressive primary challenges to disfavored Republicans and to boost competitive candidates on the national stage without much tradeoff.
