Ernie Hudson from the original Ghostbusters reprised his role in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” at age 78, and fans could not believe the social media footage of him looking very toned in a fitted t-shirt and jeans at the London opening of the movie.
“Sweet baby Jesus, I’m lusting after someone’s Grandpappy,” one user commented.
Hudson told People he was flattered by the comments, and that two bouts with cancer have led him to a more healthy lifestyle.
He has a personal trainer and Pilates instructor, and his wife of 40 years Linda Kingsberg has helped him by instituting a goal of 10,000 steps a day for the two of them.
“I’ve always looked at physicality more from a spiritual perspective than a physical,” he added. “The spiritual thing dictates the physical more than the other way around. So when I’m in a good space, I’m aware of just how I’m living my life, the other things fall in place.”
Hudson was lesser known than the movie’s other leads and says he feels like he was “sidelined” in the original and the 2014 sequel, so it’s “nice to be noticed” now.
