It is well-known that President Joe Biden uses a CPAP machine when he sleeps to combat sleep apnea, which can cause people to stop breathing during the night.
When he showed up to an afternoon health care event with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) at the White House on Wednesday with CPAP markings on his face, however, it raised new questions about his sleep patterns and the larger implications for his health.Â
The event was supposed to start at 11 a.m. but Biden didn’t show up until around noon. Reporters noticed the marks as he walked across the White House lawn during the event, which allowed Sanders and Biden to boast about how they are forcing pharmaceutical companies to lower their prices on certain drugs.
Biden is 81 years old and would be 86 at the end of a second term, if he wins re-election. A large majority of the American public including many Democrats believe that Biden is too old to run for president again, according to polls.
Biden’s struggles
Biden is struggling with many issues beyond his age as he tries to convince voters to give him another chance as chief executive and commander-in-chief of the free world.
His policies are not popular, from effectively open borders allowing illegal immigrants and fentanyl to stream across the border largely unchecked to his failure to effectively deal with inflation and get the economy moving faster than a crawl again.
Along with his age, most voters also believe he has shown signs of mental decline since 2020, when he already seemed old and faltering at times.
And they don’t like the idea of his number two, Vice President Kamala Harris, taking over if he can’t make it through the term.
He is also being investigated by Congress for helping his family take millions of dollars from entities linked to foreign governments like China, Russia and Ukraine, but the mainstream media has kept that impeachment inquiry largely under the radar for the most part, so far.
Widespread dissatisfaction
The widespread dissatisfaction with Biden has made former President Donald Trump, who is hated by the left and faces four criminal indictments and a myriad of civil lawsuits, look good by comparison.
Trump leads most swing states in polls, which is a bad omen for Biden when Democrat incumbents typically lead by double digits until a few months before the election.
Since they both have multiple issues bogging them down, voters may look to Trump’s relative vitality as being a better choice to lead the country going forward, despite his legal entanglements.
If Biden is sleeping long hours just to have energy to appear in public sounding relatively coherent, then who is actually running the country while he is out of commission?
It’s a fair question to ask, but will probably be ignored as the left-leaning media tries to help him limp across the finish line one more time.
At this point, it’s unclear whether anything will be enough to help him.
