Sadarion Cosby, a 17-year-old, was shot and killed on Friday evening and Sanford police revealed that he was with multiple people who abandoned him and left him to die.
Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith issued a statement saying, “A seventeen-year-old lost his life. His ‘friends,’ and I use that term loosely, ran rather than staying and helping him. They didn’t help him get the emergency medical attention he needed, nor stay to assist law enforcement identify and locate the person(s) who took his life.”
Cosby and three unidentified friends approached a parked Kia K-5 on Friday evening when gunfire broke out and Cosby was struck.
Two of Cosby’s associates immediately fled and one carried him to a nearby house before running as well.
The residents of that home drove Cosby to a local hospital but he died from his injuries. That outcome could have been different had Cosby’s friends not abandoned him and gotten him to a hospital quickly.
Police are searching for the occupants of the Kia but for now, Cosby’s family has little to go by in terms of closure for Cosby’s tragic passing.
