Judge Scott McAfee’s Friday decision to allow Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to remain on her case against former President Donald Trump as long as her lover, lead prosecutor Nathan Wade, takes a walk has sparked fury across social media from those who say the “coward” took the easy way out.
As BizPac Review reported, McAfee found that the defendants had “failed to meet their burden of proving that the District Attorney acquired an actual conflict of interest in this case through her personal relationship and recurring travels with her lead prosecutor.”
The record, however, “highlights a significant appearance of impropriety that infects the current structure of the prosecution team,” the judge wrote in his decision.
Disqualifying Willis was not necessary, McAfee reasoned, “when a less drastic and sufficiently remedial option is available.”
“The Court therefore concludes that the prosecution of this case cannot proceed until the State selects one of two options,” he ruled. “The District Attorney may choose to step aside, along with the whole of her office, and refer the prosecution to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council for reassignment. … Alternatively, SADA Wade can withdraw, allowing the District Attorney, the Defendants, and the public to move forward without his presence or remuneration distracting from and potentially compromising the merits of this case.”
In other words, the judge “split the baby.”
“Obviously Wade will go and Fani will stay,” predicted political podcaster Megyn Kelly. “It’s a cowardly decision by the judge but still a major win for this defense team.”

Many weren’t so fast to pop champagne corks.
“I disagree [Megyn Kelly] that this is a major win for the defense,” replied legal analyst Phil Holloway. “It’s a loss.”
“Wade is the sacrificial lamb,” Holloway said. “Willis stays without consequences for perpetuating fraud on the court. No consequences for steering contract to BF then globetrotting with him using money she paid him.”

Others were more direct.
“This is a scandal,” Harvard professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax following the decision. “And the judge just didn’t have the courage to do the right thing. And judges often don’t, and they will find a way out.”
“And this,” the legal icon said, “is a weaselly way out.”

The judge’s ruling made Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) “sick.”
“Judge McAfee worked for Fani Willis and donated to her campaign AND has now ruled that Fani can keep prosecuting Trump but only if she removes her lover Nathan Wade off the case!” she wrote on X. “Judge McAfee should have recused himself in the first place because of his obvious bias.”
“The Georgia Ethics board needs to seriously investigate both Fani Willis and Nathan Wade, I’ve filed multiple complaints!” Greene stated. “The corruption in Fulton County, Georgia is some of the worst in the nation.
“It makes most of us in Georgia sick.”

“How much of a coward is Judge McAfee?” wondered the popular End Wokeness account.
According to Juanita Broaddrick, McAffee “is a Eunic and has the spine of a wet noodle.”
And Civil Rights attorney Leo Terrell says, “The judge got it wrong.”
“The case should be dismissed,” he stated.
How much of a coward is Judge McAfee?
This was CNN on Fulton DA Fani Willis:
“This is epic. Monumental. Fani WILL be disqualified. This is a huge deal.”

“It’s like finding two people in a bank vault and taking one off to jail,” legal scholar Jonathan Turley told Fox News. “They both testified in the same way. They were the two parts to this relationship, and yet only one of them was disqualified.
“Why should Willis escape these consequences?”
