Many of former President Donald Trump’s critics have hyper-focused on Melania Trump’s absence from the presidential campaign trail.
That was evident again last week after it was observed that the former first lady was not with her husband during his Super Tuesday victory speech after he won all but one state.
According to Newsweek, Melania Trump’s absence that night was explained by one of her former aides, and it’s far from the bombshell news that Trump’s critics fantasize about, essentially saying that she wasn’t there because his supporters simply do not care if she’s there or not.
The former president has reassured the press and his critics on multiple occasions that his wife will eventually join him on the trail whenever she’s ready to do so.
The explanation
Newsweek and other outlets apparently reached out to current and former Trump aides for an explanation as to why she was absent on Super Tuesday evening.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, described as a close aide and former confidant of the former first lady, took to social media to dispel any garbage, made-up news regarding her absence.
“WARNING Melania Trump was NOT at Donald’s victory party because she did NOT have to be. His supporters do NOT care if she is by his side or NOT, so now she does NOT have to be. NOThing more, NOThing less,” Wolkoff wrote.

As the former president has explained a number of occasions, Melania Trump has largely been off of the campaign trail in an effort to protect their teenage son, Barron Trump, from the media spotlight.
The former first lady also lost her mother earlier this year, which any reasonable person or reporter would understand that she needed time out of the limelight to grieve and heal.
President Trump explains
During several different interviews, Mr. Trump explained why his wife is different — in a good way — than other first ladies, but added that she’ll join him on the campaign trail at some point.
“She’s a private person. It’s funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She’s going to be out a lot, not because she likes doing it, but she likes the result. She wants to see this country really succeed,” Trump said at the time.
He added, “[The people] love the fact that she’s not out there so much. You know, a lot of first ladies will go out. They want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them. If I didn’t introduce Melania she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person. And she loves the country.”
It looks as though Trump’s haters will need to find another petty attack angle, as the one about Melania Trump clearly isn’t working.
