A former FBI agent who once lamented the lack of domestic terrorism laws in a conversation about parental rights had a seemingly aggressive take on former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron.

Ahead of a decision by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan to expand an existing gag order against Trump in his alleged hush money trial, NBC News National Security Contributor Frank Figliuzzi appeared on “The Dean Obeidallah Show” touting his experience as the former assistant director for counterintelligence for the FBI.
That background truly shined as he employed an “I’m rubber, your glue”-style breakdown with regard to alleged threats from the president to Merhan’s daughter to go after Trump’s now-18-year-old son.
“The idea that you have to protect the families from the defendant and the defendant’s allies, even in mob trials — was that a concern?” asked Obeidallah as he characterized the president’s recent vocalization of conflicts of interest regarding Loren Merchan’s Democratic Party-linked political consulting firm, Authentic Campaigns, as “attacks”
“Yeah. I’ve seen it myself in my own FBI career. Family members threatened, even, in one case, killed,” responded Figliuzzi, cranking up the fear porn as he downplayed Loren Merchan’s connections. “You, you — this is a legit concern. And I don’t know what human decency is left in our society anymore, but the idea of attacking a judge’s daughter just because she’s the judge’s daughter, or even, even let’s assume — whatever he’s got in his head about her political affiliation or whatever — what, what’s the point of that? What, what is the point of that?”
“And if you turn the tables around, if you’re a decent human being and you say ‘Would I want my kid attacked publicly in this environment — violent threat environment we’re in?” he said before calling out two of the president’s children by name.
“How do you feel about Ivanka — Barron? How about Barron being threatened?” posited the former federal agent. “How do you feel about that, Don? You know, we’re in a realm where civility and decency has long been thrown out the window. So I think it’s a no-brainer, Dean, that the judge will extend the, the gag order and to include everybody’s family members.”
As it happened the judge did extend the gag order ahead of Article III Project founder and former judicial clerk Mark Davis filing a complaint with D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan over one of Merchan’s peers “extrajudicial pronouncements” related to the Trump.
U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton had towed the leftist narrative about the president’s commentary on the hush money case and had whined to CNN host Kaitlan Collins how, “it’s very disconcerting to have someone making comments about a judge and it’s particularly problematic when those comments are in the form of a threat, especially if they are directed at one’s family.”
Included in Davis’ complaint were concerns about how the flippant allegations against Trump could taint a jury pool as media outlets ran salacious headlines about “attacks on judges.”
Meanwhile, Figliuzzi’s record showed him to be no fan of free speech as in June 2023, amid reports that the Department of Justice had been targeting, among others, parents who spoke out at school board meetings, he had lauded a Southern Poverty Law Center’s report that marked parental rights groups on their “hate map” while he bemoaned a lack of legal recourse against them.
“I know you’ve heard me say this to a point where you may be tired of hearing me say it,” he had told MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace when asked about alleged threats to “families of transgender kids and LGBTQ+ kids”, “we still don’t have a law in the federal books against domestic terrorism, and that deprives law enforcement of the ability to get out ahead of violence.”
Figliuzzi wasn’t alone in taking aim at Barron Trump as the former NBC Universal senior executive Mike Sington had marked the young man’s birthday with a since-deleted post far more readily interpreted as a threat: “Barron Trump turns 18 today. He’s fair game now.”
Faced with backlash, Sington deleted his post and remarked, “Someone pointed out to me ‘fair game’ could mean fair game to be harmed. I don’t wish physical harm on anyone, so I took it down. I listen to the comments and criticism I receive.”
Not all leftist talking heads were so susceptible to shame as talking heads on CNN and MSNBC faced ridicule over their coverage of other “threats” from Trump in the form of a “horrific video” they either refused to show or over-hyped regarding a decal of President Joe Biden tied up.
“If you think that’s really Joe Biden tied up on the back of the pickup truck,” said “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart, “I don’t know that you have the mental acuity to be operating a motor vehicle.”
